Super Savers:
You are the type that live and breather scooping up deals, shopping at various stores to get the best savings and using coupons whenever you can.
In order to maximize your savings, it might help to follow these tips:
1. Plan meals before you shop to make sure you have what you need.
2. Don't be too carried away by sale prices because they are not always as great as they seem. Try comparing the sale price of the items from the regular price as well.
3. Buy items that you can stock in your freezer that are healthy home-cooked meals. You can double your fave freezer-friendly recipes as you prepare your regular meals, then prepare one up to the final step. Pop one from the freezer and you've got dinner for a busy evening.
4.Try to organize your storage system to easily see what you have in hand to determine whether you need to buy more or wait for another next sale to roll around. Also, put items with the earliest expiration date infront of your pantry so they can be used first.
If you have lots of frozen foods, have a freezer inventory about those bags of frozen items buried at the back.
Planners:
You are a planner and not into coupons or even sales because you prefer foods prepared from-scratch meals. You value the time it takes to prepare a meal but not for clipping coupons.
You like to buy large pack sizes, frequent warehouse clubs and freeze meals into separate portions too.
Here's how to maximize your savings:
1. Think 12 weeks. There are 15 categories a store have in a supermarket (ex. frozen foods, dairy products, deli, etc...) and these categories can rotate on sale every 12 weeks. It maybe different from store to store but most of them put 2-3 week categories on sale per week which lasts for 1-3 weeks. When you see one, and you need it in the next 12 weeks, buy it, so you won't pay full price later.
2.You can still get savings from coupons online where no clippings are required, then upload coupons and use them at the check out.
3.Buy the right size. If there are small, medium and large sizes, often, the medium is cheaper than the large in cost per ounce or per unit.
Sacrificers:
You focus on the true needs vs. wants, and every item you pick up has to be carefully considered.
1. Make trip once a week to the store with your detailed list on your hand, to avoid random impulse items.
2. Choose a store that may not rpide itself on variety, customer service or shopping experience. If you're willing to sacrifice shopping where prices are the lowest with long lines or many annoyances, you can still save between 25-50% on the products you need.
Spectators:
You're considered to be the most loyal to national brands and least impacted by the recession. ;) You are resourceful when you want to be, and uses shopping coupons, rebates and sales.
