Now that I'm Here

Now that I’m in the real estate game I know a heck of a lot more about what things cost. I love working on homes but through the years I’ve had to adjust what things cost with the economy. When I first started doing things like tile and plumbing I just took the first estimate that came to be but over the last few months with the economy the way it is I’ve learned that I can more or less set my own price. I’ve had to look into other things like home security prices that you wouldn’t think about, too, and my mom’s been great about keeping a spreadsheet for me if I just tell her what things cost. That way, if I get a bad estimate I can look back and tell if I’m getting a bum deal or not – this business is actually all about knowing what things should cost. I love being a contractor but you know, at the end of the day I feel like I’ve got a whole new set of skills.
