Paying Off Your Debt

If you do only one thing, pay your credit cards on time. This would make your card issuer be restricted in raising rates on current balances. (Credit Card Act of 2009).

Action Plans:

If you owe $1,500 on a credit card and expecting a $1,000 refund, offer the refund to your credit card company if they'll forgive the rest. Lot of them will say yes. Then submit a post dated check to solidify the deal.

Strive to quit an expensive habit, and put your saved money in a get-out-of-debt kitty.

Pay student loans as you earn. The government's Income-Based Repayment Plan keeps payments for federal student loans to less than 15% of your income. Request a forbearance if you can't make payments.
