Smart Queries to Ask When Buying at Fish Market

  1. When was it caught? - Most people would think this question would help them define the quality of the fish, but NO! They should ask; - "How was it caught? and taken cared of after the catch?" A fish caught 2 days ago by hook and line and immediately gutted and iced is much better than a fish caught this morning by a trawl net and treated with no ice.
  2. How do you choose healthy seafood? - Swordfish may bioaccumulate toxins, so, try short-lived sardines, squid, shrimp, sock eye salmon or young albacore tuna. They are all high in omega-3s.
  3. How do you cook it? - For something delicate, saute with white wine or lemon juice. For firmer, meatier fish, grill it.
